🔒 Tutorial – Locking the Position of External Displays on Mac with BetterDisplay – X3 Pro

Updated over 3 weeks ago

This guide explains how to lock the position of an external display (such as those in the Xnomad range) on macOS using the BetterDisplay tool, to prevent macOS from rearranging windows after a reconnection.

Steps to follow:

1. Open BetterDisplay
Click on the BetterDisplay icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen (small white display icon).

2. Access your screen settings
In the dropdown menu, select your Xnomad external screen (it will appear by name or resolution).
Click on the "Settings" button.

3. Enable display position lock
In the screen settings, look for the option:

“Lock display position”

Enable this option.

4. Recommended restart
Once activated, restart your Mac or unplug and reconnect the screen to check that the position is preserved.

💡 Tip:
This option is useful if you regularly use multiple screens, as it prevents windows from changing screen or order after sleep or reconnection.
