🎓 Tutorial – Installing BetterDisplay on MacBook for the X3 Pro

Updated over 3 weeks ago

BetterDisplay is a free tool that enhances the resolution, smoothness, and display quality of external monitors—such as those in the Xnomad range—on macOS.

Installation Steps:

1. Download the software
Go to the official site: https://github.com/waydabber/BetterDisplay
Click on “Latest Release”, then download the .dmg file.

2. Install BetterDisplay
Once the download is complete, open the .dmg file.
Drag the BetterDisplay icon into your Applications folder.

3. Open the application
Go to Applications and launch BetterDisplay.
macOS will show a security warning (because the app is not from the App Store).
Click "Cancel", then:

  • Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy

  • Click "Open Anyway", then confirm again to launch BetterDisplay.

4. Display configuration
Once BetterDisplay is open, click on its icon in the menu bar (top of the screen).
Select your Xnomad screen from the list.
Enable the following options:

  • HiDPI (Retina scaling) for sharper image quality

  • Virtual Display mirroring, if you want to duplicate your display

5. Optimal resolution
Choose the resolution recommended by Xnomad (usually 1920x1080 HiDPI) for a sharper, higher-contrast and smoother display.

💡 Tip:
BetterDisplay launches automatically at startup.
You can disable it anytime from the menu bar.
