Are the Screens Compatible with a Surface Pro?

Updated over a month ago

Key Points:

  • X3 Pro / X2 Pro: Compatible with Surface Pro, but not recommended

  • Drawback: USB ports are positioned on the side of the Surface Pro, causing cables to run across the X3 Pro screen.

Xnomad Screens Compatibility with Surface Pro

The X3 Pro and X2 Pro are designed to be compatible with a wide range of devices, including Microsoft Surface Pro. However, there are important considerations to keep in mind for optimal use.

Compatibility with Surface Pro

Both models are technically compatible with Surface Pro.
You can connect them using the available USB ports, allowing you to benefit from an extended screen setup for professional or personal tasks.

⚠️ Drawback: USB Port Positioning

Although compatible, we do not recommend using the X3 Pro or X2 Pro with a Surface Pro for the following reasons:

  • USB ports on the side: Surface Pro devices have their USB ports located on the side, which means the connecting cables will need to run across the main screen.

  • Visual discomfort: These cables can obstruct your view, reduce ergonomics, and impact the overall comfort and productivity of your workspace.

These images illustrate how the cables can interfere with the use of the Surface Pro when connected to the X3 Pro, highlighting why we do not recommend this setup.

In summary, the X3 Pro and X2 Pro are compatible with the Surface Pro, but we do not recommend this usage due to the position of the USB ports on the Surface Pro, which can make use uncomfortable. The cables running across the main screen may interfere with visibility and overall ergonomics. To see the impact, refer to the installation photo examples showing this setup.
